Hello dear readers!
I’m trying something new this time around and sending the blog out as more of a “newsletter” so to speak both to not bombard you with too many emails and to try something other than social media. The socials are feeling lame and annoying to me of late (weird algorithm, I never see my friend’s posts, most of what I see is just attention getting garbage and ads) and it seems that there’s the potential for so much more depth/satisfaction/fulfillment when sharing snippets of life on a personal blog. Even if very few of you actually read any of this (no offense taken, and Mom, I know you will read it!) I enjoy writing it, which is supposed to be the point.
I’ve also realized I’m not sure if writing a memoir in “publish as I go” format is working for me (which is what this blog has mainly been until it stalled out a few months ago). Already I want to go back and delete/edit/scrap/reorder/improve much of what I’ve written and now I see that if I share it as I go, I can’t do that! That grates at my perfectionistic tendencies, let me tell you!! Which maybe is a good thing as I’m trying to let those go… but I also think it may realistically be a more enjoyable writing process for me if I don’t share it prematurely (this is assuming I even still want to write a memoir… no promises people!).
So any who, this may become more of a “pieces and updates and stories from everyday life with a mix-in of past experiences when I feel inspired to write them personal blog” — maybe those are the exact words I should use in the official description. But as my dear husband reminds me, if I want to be a writer I have to write, even if it’s just updates about our strange, slow, little corner of life. I like slow. And perhaps you do too (?). Either way, here are some updates and stories from spring in the high desert!
And as always, thanks for reading the ramblings.
- Kelsi
